Becoming a better person isn’t a goal I achieve once and check off a list — it’s an ongoing journey. Every day, I try to show up and be intentional in ways that reflect my core values: being authentic, truthful, and kind, and most importantly, leading with kindness in all I do.

I coached lacrosse in the same pair of cheap Nikes for years. They were scuffed and far from stylish — but they got me from point A to point B, and that was enough. My wardrobe was limited to three or four rotating outfits, each one stretched far past its prime. I didn’t upgrade, I didn’t indulge, and I rarely replaced anything unless I absolutely had to.

Life has a way of knocking people down. Rejection, failure, and disappointment can pile up, leaving scars that are not easily seen — but deeply felt. Most people, understandably, begin to shut down. If you’re serious about creative authenticity, it’s time to stop caring what people want to see. Too often, creators fall into the trap of playing it safe, making work designed to please the crowd instead of pursuing something real. But safe rarely leads to greatness. In fact, the most meaningful work is often born from discomfort, solitude, and the refusal to conform. It’s built by those willing to think differently, move differently, and create differently.
